Transport Canada recalls

03
  • Lights And Instruments#2022421

    2,239 units affected

Issue: On certain motorcycles, a poor electrical connection at the Vehicle Control Module (VCM) could lead to an intermittent or total loss of forward lighting. Note: If this happens, the high beam indicator on the gauge cluster will flash. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2019-252. Safety Risk: A loss of lighting would reduce visibility and could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Indian Motorcycle will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect the VCM and harness connector for damage, and update the VCM software. If the VCM and/or harness connector are damaged, the dealer will repair the harness and replace the VCM.

  • Powertrain#2019558

    3,892 units affected

Issue: On certain motorcycles, the gear position switch may malfunction. This can cause the wrong gear to be indicated on the motorcycle's display. As a result, the display could indicate that the motorcycle is in neutral, when it is actually in gear. If you do not follow safe starting procedures, the motorcycle could move suddenly during start-up. Safety Risk: Sudden unintended movement of the motorcycle could increase the risk of injury and/or a crash. Corrective Actions: Indian Motorcycles will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the gear position switch.

  • Electrical#2018176

    210 units affected

On certain motorcycles, electrical components within the right hand switch cube may develop corrosion over time. This could result in an electrical short in the cube that may lead to the motorcycle starting without user input. If the key fob is stored on or near the motorcycle and all other safety interlocks are met, the vehicle could start while unattended. If the vehicle were to start while unattended in a closed area, the risk of exposure to carbon monoxide would be increased, potentially resulting in injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the existing right hand switch cube with an updated cube that eliminates the potential for corrosion.
