Issue: On a small number of fire trucks, the self-leveling function of the aerial platform bucket may not work properly. As a result, the platform could become un-level. Safety Risk: A platform that is not level could cause a person to slip and fall, and create the risk of an injury. Corrective Actions: HME will notify owners by mail and instruct them to contact HME customer service. HME will reprogram the aerial controls and modify the hydraulic system, as necessary.

Issue: On a small number of fire trucks, the wiring for the aerial controls could become damaged. If this happens, electrical wires could be exposed. This problem can also cause the aerial control system and the ladder lighting to stop working. Note: This could cause the low voltage alarm to turn on and/or diming of the aerial lighting. Safety Risk: Exposed wiring could create a risk of shock or electrocution. Additionally, a loss of power to the aerial control system could delay emergency response and increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: HME will notify the owners by mail and instruct you to contact your local dealer, Dependable Emergency Vehicles. The dealer will make arrangements with HME to have the vehicle(s) transported to their repair facility to be inspected and serviced. HME will replace and install new aerial components.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the fuel rail assembly could develop a leak. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a Cummins L9 or ISX12 diesel engine. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: HME Ahrens-Fox will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Cummins authorized service center to inspect the fuel rail. If damage is found, the fuel rail and fuel lines will be replaced. If no damage is found, the fuel rail will be reassembled with new crush washers using a special tool.

Issue: On certain fire trucks, a missing O-ring seal could allow moisture to enter the fuse box. This could result in corrosion of some electrical components. If this happens, the fuse box could overheat and/or cause certain electronic systems to malfunction. Safety Risk: A fuse box that overheats could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: HME will contact owners directly and send replacement parts, provided by the fuse box supplier, along with instructions for installing them. They will also provide details for the reimbursement of labour costs.
