Issue: Over time, the right-front brake air tube could become damaged by contact with the passenger-side fender. If this happens, air could leak from the tube and the truck could pull to the left while braking. Safety Risk: Reduced braking could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hino will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake air tube. The dealer will also install a bracket and clip to secure the air tube.

Issue: On certain trucks, the ground connection in the telematics wiring harness behind the dash may not have been connected properly. As a result, the harness could overheat and melt. If this happens, the brake lights could stop working. This problem could also cause gauges not to display properly, the ABS and check engine lights to turn on, and you may not be able to shift the vehicle into gear. Safety Risk: Wiring that overheats and melts can create the risk of fire. Brake lights that do not work could cause a person not to recognize when the vehicle is braking. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hino will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and repair the ground circuit. The dealer will also replace any damaged wiring harnesses, as necessary.

Issue: On certain trucks, the fuel gauge float inside the fuel tank could detach. If this happens, the fuel gauge would not display the correct fuel level. As a result, the driver may be unaware of how much fuel is in the tank, and the vehicle could run out of fuel and stall. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with a 265 L or 340 L fuel tank. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hino will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to replace the fuel sender.

Issue: On certain trucks, the tailpipe for the exhaust may have been positioned incorrectly during shipping. As a result, the heat from the exhaust could cause the rear wiring harness to melt. If this happens, the brake lights could fail. This problem could also cause the taillights, air suspension, ABS, and air brake control circuits to fail. Safety Risk: Brake lights that don't work could cause others not to recognize when the vehicle is braking, and increase the risk of a crash. Wiring that melts could also create the risk of a fire. Brake and air suspension systems that fail could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hino will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect the rear wiring harness for heat damage, and reposition the tailpipe as necessary.

If this happens, a leak may develop and cause low air pressure. If you continue to ignore low air pressure warnings, the parking brakes could apply suddenly while driving. Safety Risk: Parking brakes that self-apply while driving could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hino will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealership to replace the air horn supply line assembly.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the cable that connects the negative battery terminal to the frame may be too short and could break. If this happens, it will not be possible to start the engine. Safety Risk: In certain situations, a vehicle that cannot be re-started could create an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hino will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to install an extension bracket on the negative battery terminal. Dealers will also inspect the ground cable terminal for damage. If damage is found, the cable will be replaced.
