  • Steering#2025339

    5,321 units affected

Issue: On certain vehicles, the fasteners that connect the ball joints to the front control arms may be missing or may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the ball joints could separate from the control arms. If this happens, there could be a loss of control. Safety Risk: A loss of control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: GEM will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, as necessary, tighten the fasteners or replace the ball joints.

U.S. NHTSA recalls

01
  • SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:UPPER BALL JOINT#25V380000

GEM WAEV LLC (GEM) is recalling certain 2022-2025 e2, e4, e6, and eLXD vehicles. The retaining fasteners between the ball joint and the hub strut may have been improperly tightened, which can result in ball joint separation from the wheel.

Risk: Ball joint separation can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the retaining fasteners or replace the ball joints as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2025. Owners may contact GEM customer service at 1-800-688-8680. This recall replaces NHTSA recall 24V971.
