Issue: On certain trucks equipped with "Fleet Engineer" mud flaps, the bracket for the mud flaps may partially cover the rear reflective tape. Canadian regulations require that reflective tape must be visible on the rear of the truck. Safety Risk: Reflective tape that is covered may make the truck less visible to others and could create an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks of North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to an authorized DTNA Service Facility to inspect the reflective tape. It will be moved as necessary to meet the regulations.

On certain vehicles equipped with a Caterpillar C15 engine, the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) oil line may wear against the P-clip retaining the oil line. An oil leak could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Caterpillar dealers will replace the VVA oil line with an updated version.

DAIMLER TRUCKS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 AND 2011 ARGOSY, CASCADIA, AND CORNOADO HEAVY TRUCKS MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 4, 2010, THROUGH NOVEMBER 30, 2010, EQUIPPED WITH 40K AIRLINER SUSPENSIONS. THE REAR SUSPENSION MAY FRACTURE THROUGH THE CENTER BOLT HOLE AFTER VEHICLE ASSEMBLY.
Risk: IF UNDETECTED, OVER TIME THE REAR END OF THE SPRING MAY SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING A HAZARDOUS ROAD DEBRIS SITUATION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DAIMLER TRUCKS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE MONO LEAF SPRINGS FREE OF CHARGE. DAIMLER TRUCKS WILL SEND AN INTERIM LETTER TO OWNERS INFORMING THEM OF THE RECALL. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT AUGUST 5, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLER TRUCKS AT 1-800-547-0712.
- ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING#09V366000
DAIMLER TRUCKS IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH CATERPILLAR C15 ENGINE. THE VARIABLE VALVE ACTUATION OIL LINE MAY RUB AGAINST THE P-CLIPS RETAINING THE OIL LINE, CAUSING AN OIL LEAK.
Risk: AN OIL LEAK MAY RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DAIMLER TRUCKS IS WORKING WITH CATERPILLAR TO REMEDY THESE VEHICLES. PLEASE SEE CATERPILLAR'S DEFECT REPORT 09E-020. CATERPILLAR WILL INSPECT AND REPAIR THE NECESSARY COMPONENTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 5, 2009.
