Transport Canada recalls

02
  • Electrical#2017313

    77 units affected

On certain motorhomes where a residential refrigerator was installed in place of the standard refrigerator, the positive and negative leads from the battery which hook to the standard refrigerator were left with exposed wire ends. This could result in the energized wire and the negative wire to possibly make contact with each other, which could lead to melting of the wires' insulation, and increase the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will disconnect the energized and negative wires at the house battery.

  • Structure#2016399

    488 units affected

On certain motorhomes, the fasteners that secure the trailer hitch to the chassis may have been improperly torqued during installation. An improperly torqued nut and bolt may result the hitch dropping loose on one side of the chassis, which may cause a potential loss of vehicle control. If all of the fasteners were to fail, the hitch could detach from the motorhome and become a road hazard, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a new and improved fastener kit and ensure proper torque.

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Coachmen RV Encounter recreational vehicles, and 2014-2018 Coachmen RV Mirada and Mirada Select recreational vehicles equipped with the residential refrigerator option instead of the standard refrigerator. Risk: If the energized positive wire and negative wire make contact, the wires may sort circuit and possibly melt, increasing the risk of a fire.

Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8212. Forest River's number for this recall is 310-06212017-0455.
