Issue: Certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis could have a problem with the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2018-582. Vehicles that had an inspection, but did not have the PDM replaced under the previous recall, require a second repair under this recall. Safety Risk: Brake lights, marker lights or turn signals that do not work properly could make the vehicle less visible. They could also cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Forest River will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their motorhome to a Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) authorized service facility to replace the PDM..

On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain travel trailers and motorhomes, a defect in the on-demand hot water heater, manufactured by Atwood Mobile Products, could result in a risk of scalding injury due to excessive hot water temperature. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions from Atwood Mobile Products on how and where to have repairs completed.

On certain vehicles, the connector for the brake and cruise control signal diode jumper assembly may come loose, resulting in a possible intermittent or continuously open circuit. Two circuits are potentially affected. One circuit disengages the cruise control with brake pedal application, and the other circuit illuminates the brake lights with brake application. Failure of the cruise control to disengage, or of the brake lights to illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed, could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will verify that the locking tabs on the diode jumper assembly connector are fully engaged and locked into place.

On certain vehicles, when exposed to high temperatures and electrical loads, the electrical transfer switch may overheat and fail, causing electrical malfunctions. Continued use could result in an increased risk of fire, property damage and personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the electrical transfer switch with an updated version.
