Transport Canada recalls

  • Brakes#2024677

    12,713 units affected

Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by an FCA dealer during recall Z48 (Transport Canada recall no. 2022-305) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles, a problem inside the hydraulic control unit (HCU) for the antilock brake system (ABS) could cause the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC) system not to work. This could also cause the brake lights to turn on or stay on without pressing the brake pedal, and it may allow the vehicle to be started and the transmission to be shifted out of the Park position (P) without pressing the brake pedal. Safety Risk: An antilock braking system and/or electronic stability control system that doesn't work could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Brake lights that stay on could cause others not to recognize when the vehicle is braking and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the integrated pressure transducer on the HCU. The dealer will also update the ABS software, if necessary.

  • Label#2024548

    314,717 units affected

Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has corrected the tire and loading information label for all new vehicles.

  • Brakes#2022305

    12,713 units affected

Issue: On certain vehicles, there may be a problem inside the hydraulic control unit for the antilock brake system. As a result, it may be possible to start the vehicle and shift the transmission out of the Park position (P) without pressing the brake pedal. If this happens, the vehicle could move suddenly. This problem could also cause the brake lights to turn on or stay on without pressing the brake pedal. Safety Risk: A vehicle that moves suddenly could increase the risk of a crash. Brake lights that stay on could cause others not to recognize when the vehicle is braking, and could also increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

  • Visual System#2020145

    46,772 units affected

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rearview camera image may be displayed even after the transmission is shifted out of reverse. This could cause a possible distraction for the driver. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to turn off within 10 seconds after shifting from reverse gear. Safety Risk: A driver that is distracted could have an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the radio software.

  • Powertrain#2020132

    48 units affected

Issue: On certain vehicles, the front differential pinion gears were not manufactured correctly. As a result, the pinion gears could wear excessively and cause a loss of power to the wheels and could also cause the vehicle to move unexpectedly when the vehicle’s transmission is in the parked position. Safety Risk: A vehicle that loses power to the wheels or move unexpectedly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the front differential.
