Transport Canada recalls

01
  • Structure#2021636

    6 units affected

Issue: On a small number of vehicles converted for wheelchair access by BraunAbility, a screw that supports the left-front wheel well liner may contact and damage the transmission case. If this happens, transmission fluid could leak and eventually cause a loss of power to the wheels. Safety Risk: A transmission fluid leak onto a hot surface can create the risk of a fire. Additionally, a loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BraunAbility will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the affected screw and clip with a nylon rivet. The dealer will also inspect the transmission case for fluid leaks and repair it, as necessary.

Risk: A transmission fluid leak can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, a leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the screw and clip, and inspect for signs of contact with the transmission, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 29, 2021. Owners may contact Braun customer service at 1-800-488-0359.
