On a certain motorcycle, the connecting rods may not have been installed properly. As a result, the connecting rods could loosen and become disconnected, leading to engine damage or an engine failure. This could cause a loss of propulsion and/or rear wheel lock up, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: The motorcycle’s engine will be replaced.

U.S. NHTSA recalls
01- ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE#18V830000
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling one 2019 F850GS motorcycle. The engine connecting rods may not have been installed properly, possibly causing them to become loose and disconnect over time.
Risk: Loose engine connecting rods can damage the engine, causing a loss of engine power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: The motorcycle has not yet been sold, and the dealer will replace the engine, free of charge, prior to sale. The recall began December 7, 2018. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
