Issue: On certain school buses, a 12 V power wire could become damaged and short circuit. If this happens, the front and rear warning lights, marker lights, brake lights, reverse lights, and license plate lights may not work. Safety Risk: Brake lights that don't work could cause others not to recognize when the school bus is braking, and could increase the risk of a crash. Warning lights that don't work could increase the risk of injury for passengers. Exterior lights that don't work could make the school bus less visible to others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to install an in-line fuse on the C and D-Zone wire harnesses. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed at a Blue Bird dealership.

Issue: On certain school buses, a brake line could become damaged by contact with an exhaust hanger cotter pin. This could lead to a brake fluid leak and cause reduced braking. Safety Risk: Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, brake fluid that leaks onto hot exhaust components could create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and provide instructions for replacing the exhaust hanger cotter pin and, if necessary, replacement of the brake line. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed at a Blue Bird dealership.

Issue: On certain electric school buses, the 12 V power cables may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the cable(s) could loosen and cause a loss of power to the wheels. This could also cause the braking assist, steering assist and/or instrument cluster not to work. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A loss of power brakes can cause an increase in brake pedal force and lead to an increase in stopping distance. A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort. An instrument cluster that doesn't work could cause warnings, tell-tales and gauges not to display. These issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the 12 V power cables connections. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the inspection and repairs performed at a Blue Bird dealership.

Additionally, a software problem could fail to detect and alert you if there is a loss of secondary brake assist. Note: This recall only affects certain electric school buses equipped with hydraulic brakes. Safety Risk: A loss of secondary brake assist could cause a sudden increase in brake pedal force and lead to an increase in stopping distance. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Blue Bird advises you to inspect and replace any blown fuses and to tighten any loose electrical connections going to the secondary brake pump. Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to update the vehicle software and repair the wiring harness. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed at a Blue Bird dealership.

Issue: On certain electric school buses, the fuel tank for the heater may not have been designed properly. As a result, diesel fuel could leak from the tank. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Blue Bird recommends not to fill the fuel tank beyond 90% until the recall repairs are completed. Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to remove the return tube on the fuel tank.

U.S. NHTSA recalls
03- EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY:WHEELCHAIR LIFT/RAMP:CONTROLS/CONTROL WIRING#26V556000
Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2025-2027 Vision school buses equipped with Ricon K-Series wheelchair platform lifts. The electrical contactor may fail, preventing the controls from stopping the lift.
Risk: A wheelchair lift that continues to move while occupied increases the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will correct the wiring by installing two diodes, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 30, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R26AH.

Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2021-2024 and 2026-2027 Vision School Bus (Electric), and 2023-2027 Vision School Buses. The 12V power wire on one of the harnesses may become damaged and short circuit.
Risk: An electrical short can cause a disruption to safety functions such as a loss of rear lighting or instrument panel warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will add an in-line fuse and repair the wire harnesses as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 9, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R26AG.

Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2022-2027 Vision school buses. The exhaust hanger cotter pin may contact the hydraulic brake line, damaging the line and causing a brake fluid leak.
Risk: A brake fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, a brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the exhaust hanger cotter pin. Dealers will also inspect and replace the brake lines as necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 18, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242.
