  • Accessories#2015522

    47 units affected

On certain school buses equipped with a Ricon wheelchair lift, the lift platform sides may crack, which could cause the lift to lean against the vehicle door(s) and potentially fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, putting the lift operator at risk of injury. Correction: Ricon Corporation repair facilities will inspect lift platforms, link arms and bearings for cracks, damage or misalignment and if found to be damaged, link arms and/or platform will be replaced. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2014-360. Vehicles repaired under the previous recall will require re-inspection and potential repair.

  • Other#2014360

    45 units affected

On certain school buses equipped with a Ricon wheelchair lift, the lift platform sides may crack, which could cause the lift to lean against the vehicle door(s) and potentially fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, putting the lift operator at risk of injury. Correction: Ricon Corporation repair facilities will inspect lift platforms for cracks and repair as necessary, and install a repair kit. Note: This recall is superseded by recall 2015522. • Accessories#2012136

    3 units affected

On certain school buses equipped with a Braun wheelchair lift, over time and with frequent use, the roll stop latches on the outer barrier may become bent or misaligned. As a result, a wheelchair occupant may defeat or ride over the insufficiently latched roll stop. If this occurs when the lift platform is in an elevated position, the user could fall and sustain injury. Correction: Authorized Braun service facilities will replace the outer barrier latch, bracket and clevis pin.

  • Fuel System#2011340

    12 units affected

On certain propane-powered school buses, fittings used on various propane lines could fail. Should this occur, pressure inside the propane lines would cause the hoses to completely separate from the fittings. In the event of propane line failure, the fuel system is designed to prevent propane leakage using various safety mechanisms to cut off fuel supply to the engine, thereby minimizing the amount of fuel release, as well as the risk of a fire or an explosion. However, loss of propane fuel supply would result in engine stalling which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: CleanFuel USA technicians will replace the propane fittings.

  • Lights And Instruments#2011127

    2,004 units affected

Certain school buses fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 105 - Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems, as well as CMVSS 121 - Air Brake Systems. The instrument panel ABS indicator light does not illuminate when the ABS circuit is disconnected at the main ABS module, as prescribed by the Standard. In the event the ABS circuit disconnects from the main ABS module, the bus operator would be unaware of the failure of the ABS system and the associated reduced braking function, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the instrument panel to illuminate the ABS indicator light when the ABS circuit is disconnected at the main ABS module.

  • Seats And Restraints#2010279

    600 units affected

On certain buses, the driver's seat shock damper may break allowing the driver's seat to unexpectedly drop to the floor without warning. In the event this situation should occur while the bus is in operation, the driver may lose control of the vehicle, possibly resulting in a crash causing property damage or personal injury to occupants of passengers or pedestrians. Correction: Dealers will replace the seat shock if necessary.

  • Other#2010158

    18 units affected

On certain school buses, the Ricon lift for public use "model-L" Series S K may be defective. These lifts are designed to rise and stop automatically at the vehicle floor level as the operator presses the "UP" button. However, if the operator releases the "UP" button before the lift has stopped by itself, the elevator may continue to rise and eventually store itself which can tilt the platform prematurely. This could cause personal injury to a person riding on the platform. Correction: New software will be provided and installed.

  • Seats And Restraints#2010016

    3,118 units affected

On certain school buses, incorrect offset leg barrier pads or a 2/3 seat back pads may have been installed during vehicle asembly. In case of a crash, the safety of the occupants may be affected and could result in personal injury. Correction: Owners will be notified to inspect vehicles to determine if incorrect pads were installed. Replacement pads will be provided for those equipped with incorrect pads.

  • Other#2009327

    6 units affected

On certain school buses, the wheelchair lift power cable may contact the engine exhaust manifold. This could cause the cable insulation to melt, creating an electrical short circuit which could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect, reroute and/or repair the wheelchair lift power cable.

  • Steering#2009243

    1,161 units affected

On certain school buses, the lid gasket on the power steering reservoir assembly may deteriorate and contaminate the power steering fluid. This could cause a loss of steering power assist, which could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install an updated power steering lid gasket.
