Sur certains véhicules, un démarrage-secours à l'aide de deux batteries (24 V) ou une coupure de l'alimentation électrique pourrait causer une surtension du module de puissance linéaire (LPM), qui sert à contrôler la vitesse du moteur de soufflante de chauffage/climatisation. Si cela se produit, cette surtension pourrait provoquer une surchauffe du module de puissance linéaire, ce qui produirait de la fumée et augmenterait les risques de déclenchement d'un feu pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer le module de puissance linéaire par un modèle amélioré.

Certains véhicules destinés à devenir des véhicules d'urgence et munis de moteurs diesel Maxxforce 7 V8 pourraient avoir été mal configurés. Les logiciels conçus pour protéger le moteur pourraient ne pas avoir été désactivés de manière permanente au moment de la fabrication et pourraient être réactivés par inadvertance lors d'entretien ou de réparations. Dans certaines conditions, un déclassement et/ou un arrêt involontaire de la puissance du moteur pourrait nuire aux interventions en cas d’urgence et mettre le public en danger. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront mettre à jour le logiciel du moteur afin de déactiver les protocoles d’interruption du moteur.

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2000-2001 International 4700, 2000-2002 4900, 2001-2003 8100 (TranStar) and 9100I, 2002-2003, 2005, 2007-2009, 2012-2014 and 2016-2018 DuraStar, 2012 and 2014-2017 ProStar, 2014-2015 TerraStar, and 2018 LT trucks. These vehicles are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' fire extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Risque: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
Correctif: Navistar will notify owners, instructing them to notify Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 9, 2018. Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 International DuraStar, ProStar, TranStar and WorkStar, 2012-2015 International TerraStar, 2013-2015 International LoneStar and IC Bus HC, and 2014-2015 IC Bus AC vehicles. A vehicle double battery jump start or electrical load dump event could result in an overvoltage condition of a component within the HVAC system linear power module (LPM) which is used to control the blower speed. The overvoltage condition could result in the overheating and failure of the LPM.
Risque: If the LPM overheats and fails, there is an increased risk of a fire.
Correctif: Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the LPM with an upgraded one, free of charge. An interim letter was mailed to owners on June 18, 2015. A second notification will mailed when parts become available. The recall began on August 6, 2015. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 International DuraStar Trucks and 2012-2014 International TerraStar trucks intended for emergency vehicle operations manufactured from February 25, 2010, through February 18, 2013, and equipped with 2010 MaxxForce 7 V8 diesel engines. In the affected vehicles, the Engine Warning Protection Shutdown (EWPS) was inadvertently re-enabled when the Engine Control Module (ECM) was recalibrated.
Risque: If the Engine Warning Protection System is enabled and certain engine faults occur, the emergency vehicle may shutdown (EWPS) hampering rescue operations and increasing the risk of injury.
Correctif: Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will recalibrate the ECM software to ensure that the EWPS is disabled, free of charge. The recall began on March 12, 2014. Owners may contact Navistar at 1-331-332-5000. Navistar's recall number for this campaign is 14505.
